2. Arrachage

Arrachage, a French word that directly translated into “snatching”or “lifting”, also is similar to the word araignée, which means spider. This name is given by a member of my audience, a French speaker. I adopt it because of its unfamiliarity to English speaker, so to not impose any pre-judgement of this piece.

Arrachage is an audio-visual exploratory project on monstrosity, identity, and reflection. In this project, I mainly experimented with camera movement with dance movement. In close discussion with the videographer, I designed movement both for myself and for the camera. During post-production, I approached editing as an additional layer of choreography, using it to complete the storytelling.

Directed, performed, and edited by me, camera held by Suili Chan.
