2. Arrachage

Arrachage is an audio-visual exploratory project on monstrosity, identity, and reflection. In this project, I mainly experimented with camera movement with dance movement. In close discussion with the videographer, I designed movement both for myself and for the camera. During post-production, I approached editing as an additional layer of choreography, using it to complete the storytelling.

Arrachage is a French word that directly translated into “snatching”or “lifting”, it is also similar to the word araignée, which means spider. This name is given by an audience member. I adopt it because of its unfamiliarity to English speaker, so to not impose any anticipation/ pre-judgement of this piece.

Directed, performed, and edited by me, filmed by Suili Chan.
